Bavuma intends to stop India – Ahead of the clash five-match T20I series Bavuma spoke on the potential task in hand and how he intends to stop India from registering the record, “We need to get our preparations going for the whole season.
“We obviously have the World Cup this year, so this T20 series against India would be good to start preparation towards that. We will try to win, try to stop India from World Record of Most Consecutive T20 Wins’
“But it’s a bit weird we are only playing (T20 matches) a few months before the World Cup.”
Quinton de Kock and David Miller to continue impressive form and stop India from record wins–
- While Bavuma has a clear plan to stop the Indian team, he will also be aided by the likes of David Miller and Quinton de Kock.
- Miller was lethal for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the India Premier League (IPL) as he won the competition in the first time of asking.
- Miller scored 481 runs in the IPL 2022 and will be a big factor if the Proteas are to stop Team India.
- Quinton de Kock also showed his class in the shortest format as he too was firing on all cylinders, scoring more than 500 runs in the IPL.

South Africa and Bavuma eye repeat of January series –
- India suffered a crushing blow defeat against South Africa in January, as they were put to the sword by the hosts in Africa.
- The Proteas will now be prepared to repeat the same as they try to down the Indian team on home soil.
- The Indian side led by KL Rahul lost 3-0 in the ODI series and were also at their best in the Test series.
- The wining the Delhi T20I, South Africa will also intend to put another crushing blow to the aspirations of the home side.

- Currently India shares the record for most consecutive T20I wins with Afghanistan and Romania.
- They both have 12 wins in a row alongside India; Afghanistan managed the record in February 2018 to September 2019.
- Romania on the flip side did it from October 2020 to September 2021, while majority of their opponents were associate nations.
- India will now try to go upright top with a win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on June 9.
