IND vs SA: Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma blow off steam in a jungle safari with India teammates ahead of the Boxing Day Test

As the first Test between India and South Africa approaches on Boxing Day, the Indian team took some time to unwind before their quest for a historic Test series victory on South African soil. Shubman Gill, the young talent from Team India, and skipper Rohit Sharma were spotted relaxing and releasing some steam ahead of the IND vs SA Boxing Day Test.

Shubman Gill shared photos of the wildlife encountered during the safari, including lions and rhinoceroses. One notable image shows him posing with the Indian coaching trio – Rahul Dravid, Paras Mhambrey, and Vikram Rathour – beside a majestic rhino.

Since Rohit Sharma arrived in South Africa, frequent pictures of him with his family have emerged, showcasing moments of him enjoying South African nature and participating in jungle safaris. Recently, a couple of pictures surfaced featuring Rohit Sharma alongside his teammates and coaching staff. The group, including Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and coaches Rahul Dravid, Paras Mhambrey, and Vikram Rathour, was captured in casual attire, thoroughly enjoying the jungle safari.

Shubman Gill moved down to the number three position in the Test playing XI during the West Indies series in the Caribbean Islands in July. However, his start at the new slot wasn’t ideal, scoring only 45 runs across three innings on the tour. The upcoming Tests are crucial for him to solidify his position in the playing XI.

After the World Cup 2023 heartbreak, skipper Rohit Sharma took time off from national duties, opting out of the subsequent home series against Australia and the white-ball leg of the South African tour. Sharma is set to return for the red-ball format against South Africa, starting on December 26 in Centurion. Rohit ahs already rejoined the squads and has been spotted practising in the nets.
