It just goes on to show the desperation levels of the Indian players to do well in the ODI series. Many of them spent long hours in the nets on Monday. The same happened expected at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday as well.

Interestingly as the Indian ODI team led by Shikhar practiced in Lucknow, Rohit Sharma led India was preparing for the T20 match against the Proteas.
It is important to note India have announced a second-string squad for the ODI series. Most of the players, who are featuring in the T20 series, will fly to Australia and prepare for the T2o World Cup. Meanwhile, some of them like Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer, who are in the World Cup as standbys will play the ODIs. They will fly only after the ODI series.
The 16-member squad for the ODI series was only announced on Sunday. Hence, the Dhawan-led side will have some new faces in the squad, including Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar. The duo has been in fine form of late, and their recent performances have been duly rewarded.
This series presents a wonderful chance for players to showcase their talent against South Africa. With India having a solid bench strength, a solid show will improve their case of selection for the main team as well.

Despite India missing their star players, India will be hoping to deliver in the ODI series. With India already having clinched the T20 series, Dhawan’s side has the players and the class to register another series win in the ODI format as well. However, it is not going to be a cakewalk as South Africa will want to end the tour on a high. It is going to be a strong competitive three-match series.
