IND vs SA: Ashwin dropped from XI for 2nd Test; Jadeja returns as SA opt to bat first

Ravichandran Ashwin has been dropped from the playing XI for the 2nd IND vs SA Test at Cape Town as Jadeja returns to the side

Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was dropped from the playing XI for the 2nd IND vs SA Test at the Cape Town. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who missed out on the 1st Test due to upper back spasms, returned to the side as India eye to level the series. South Africa skipper Dean Elgar won the toss and opted to bat first.

IND vs SA: Ashwin dropped, Jadeja returns

Ashwin managed to get just 1 wicket in 19 overs in the 1st Test at the Centurion, where India were handed a humiliating defeat by an innings and 32 runs. India skipper Rohit Sharma had hinted at Jadeja’s return in the pre-match press conference as he confirmed that all players were fit and were available for the 2nd Test.

South Africa still remains an unconquered frontier for India as they are yet to win a red-ball series on African soil. After failing to do so this time as well, Rohit Sharma and co will be eyeing to level the series with a win or a draw at Cape Town.
