Stand-in coach VVS Laxman put the Indian squad through a rigorous grind as Shikhar Dhawan and Co had a full training session at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. Captain Dhawan was seen delivering an intense team talk, urging his side to do better than the defeat in Lucknow.
The likes of Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson hit the nets with the latter also in conversation with newcomer Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad’s Maharashtra teammate Rahul Tripathi also looked in good touch in practice.

Shardul Thakur continued to work on his batting and was seen Playing the throw-ins with a measured approach. India’s other seam bowler Deepak Chahar ruled out with an injury throwing up a vacant spot. Shahbaz Ahmed, Rahul Tripathi and Rajat Patidar are all vying for the spot.
Washington Sundar has been named as a replacement but is yet to join the team. Shahbaz Ahmed had a long spell in the nets on Saturday, and Ranchi could mark the beginning of his international career.
Kuldeep Yadav was also seen flying into his bowling crease after an impressive performance in Lucknow. There is a clear approach on batting deep with the series on the line.
