Less than 24 hours after India sealed a series win over Australia, Rohit Sharma and Co have travelled to Thiruvananthapuram to kick off their three-match series against South Africa. The Men in Blue are likely to have an off day on Monday, before hitting the nets a day before the clash.
Fans flocked the streets as Rohit Sharma and Co made it from the airport to the stadium. Many chanted Sanju Samson’s name, the local hero, after he was omitted from the T20 World Cup squad.
Samson is one of the cult figures in Indian cricket and a certain favourite among the fans, especially in Kerala. Miffed with Sanju Samson’s omission from India’s T20 World Cup squad, local fans are planning to stage a protest against BCCI. Samson who has a large local fan base in Kerala will wear T-Shirts with Samson’s pictures during India vs South Africa 1st T20 at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on September 28.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh will join up with the team having spent time at the NCA during the India vs Australia series. Questions on Mohammed Shami’s availability remain after missing the Australia series due to COVID-19.
The South Africa series marks India’s final phase of their preparations for the T20 World Cup. The three-match series will allow the management to try different combinations for one final time before they leave for Australia.
