IND vs SA LIVE: Lungi Ngidi declares ’India are feeling the pressure, Keegan Petersen will deliver series victory”

Why Keegan Petersen Holds the Key? Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi admits that Friday’s morning session will be critical & Peteren stay on the wicket the KEY.

South Africa require only 111 runs to maintain their unbeaten Test series record against India at home. And according to Ngidi Petersen is the man who will do the job for the hosts.

Petersen without any doubt has looked very comfortable on the wicket where other batsmen are struggling. He is the highest scorer in the series & is comfortably batting at 48*.

  • 28 year old Petersen has already scored 242 Runs in the series
  • In the 1st innings of Capetown test, he was the highest scorer with 72 Runs
  • He already has 2 half centuries to his credit & is approaching 3rd 50 in 6th innings
  • If he stays on the wicket for a session – SA will surely achieve 111 remaining runs to register series victory.

IND vs SA LIVE – Capetown Test Day4 LIVE: Ngidi, who took three for 21 as South Africa bowled India out for 198, believes that the deciding Test match is evenly poised

“I think everyone is still in the game. If we were to have a 60-run partnership up tomorrow morning that’ll put us in a good position, but if they were to take early wickets then that shifts to them,” Ngidi told reporters on Thursday.

“It’s perfectly poised, tomorrow’s session is going to be very important for both teams.”

Ngidi believes that their batters could come out on top and clinch the Test series with patience.

“The ball has been doing something this entire Test series. I think there is patches in the wicket and if you hit it, it does something more than others,” said Ngidi.

“But all-in-all, with patience, guys can score hundreds out there and there’s been two seventies. With the right application, there’s runs in the wicket but as a bowler there’s wickets as well.

“It’s a good cricketing wicket, everyone is in the game. It’s pretty evenly matched out in my opinion.”

IND vs SA LIVE: Ngidi says ‘India under tremendous pressure’ and SA in advantage

In a Test match that is likely to be decided by the barest of margins on Friday, the spotlight has been placed firmly on the Umpire Review Decision system after the Indian team were left fuming on Thursday.

The furore erupted when on-field umpire Marais Erasmus’s decision was overturned after he had adjudged Proteas captain Dean Elgar to be out LBW. Television replays indicated otherwise though, much to the surprise of both Elgar and Erasmus, who was overheard on the stump microphone as saying “That is impossible”.

And although India ultimately gained their revenge with the final ball of the day when DRS ruled in their favour on this occasion to eventually dismiss Elgar caught down the leg-side, the initial frustration with use of technology by the host broadcaster SuperSport was made very clear.

South Africa seemed to profit in the immediate aftermath with Keegan Petersen, in particular, taking advantage of the Indian bowlers and fielders letting their frustration get the better of them with a flurry of boundaries.

“Reactions like that show a bit of frustration and sometimes teams capitalise on that. You never want to show so much emotion, but we could see emotions were high. That tells us they are feeling a little bit of pressure,” Ngidi said.

“That was a good partnership [Elgar and Petersen] for us and they really wanted to break it. Those feelings ended up showing there. Everyone reacts differently and what we saw there was what those guys were feeling at the time.”
