IND vs SA LIVE score: Captain Dean Elgar faces impossible task, South Africa resume at 94/4 – India set record 305-run target
South Africa will have to do the unthinkable as they attempt to chase down a 305-run target set by India on Day 4 of the IND vs SA 1st Test. No team has previously chased more than 300 in the fourth innings of a Test at Centurion, and Dean Elgar and Co. will hope to do so in the remaining days of the game.
India have previously never won at Centurion, losing both their matches at the venue. Virat Kohli and Co. now have the chance to change that on either Wednesday or Thursday. South Africa’s highest chase at the venue came way back in 1998 when they chased down 226 against Sri Lanka. The highest successful fourth-innings target reeled in at SuperSport was England’s 251/8 in the infamous fifth Test in 2000 that had two forfeited innings from both sides.
Five successful chases at SuperSport Park, Centurion:

Rain will be a significant threat to India’s chances of going 1-0 up in the series with showers expected during the second session of Day 5 of the IND vs SA 1st Test. Having already lost the entirety of Day 2, another stoppage would deny India some important time as they look to run through the Proteas batting order. Virat Kohli will hope that his bowlers can make the best of the overcast conditions and put this game to bed in a flash.
