Mohammed Siraj was ruled out of the 3rd Test due to a hamstring injury and was racing against time to be fit for the ODI series. On Monday, Bumrah confirmed that Siraj has started training with the team and is fit to play.

“I think he is fine, he is practising with us. I do not see any discomfort, hopefully that stays that way. Nothing I am aware of right now but everyone seems to be okay. Hopefully, that stays that way,” Jasprit Bumrah said in the pre-match press conference.

Virat Kohli Resigns: Kapil Dev on Kohli’s post-captaincy era, ‘He will have to give up his ego, play under young cricketer’

Jasprit Bumrah press conference excerpts

Virat Kohli Test captaincy:

It’s a personal decision and we respect that. I made my Test debut under him. He will keep contributing in a leadership role. He will keep giving his inputs. Obviously, we were told in a team meeting before he publicly announced.

Test captaincy dream

Given the opportunity, I will like to have that. But it is not something I chase.

On my vice captaincy:

I will help as much as I can. Will help KL with field setting. I will not be taking any pressure of the added responsibility. Everyone wants to take responsibility. I will contribute anyway I can. When I came in as a bowler, I used to ask a lot of questions. Hence, when youngsters come in, I like to answer them as I can also learn from their inputs.

Mohammed Siraj

He is practising with us now. Hopefully, it stays that way.

Leadership change:

It doesn’t really affects me. It is about how everyone in the group is addressing the change. Everyone is willing to contribute the best they can. As a team, we are positive and eager to contribute.
