IND vs SA Day 4 Stumps: India need 6 wickets to win on the final day despite fighting fifty from Elgar
Resuming the final session at 22/1, the hosts’ batters applied caution against the Indian seamers. But Mohammed Siraj soon got the breakthrough for visitors as he sent back Keegan Petersen to the pavilion for 17 off 36. Jasprit Bumrah then led the way in India’s bowling effort as he soon clean bowled Rassie Van Der Dussen and then Keshav Maharaj in the last over of the day.
The tourists need 6 more wickets & are cruising closer and closer to registering their first triumph in Centurion. However, the weather will be one of the biggest factors tomorrow as scattered thunderstorms are forecasted on Thursday. Virat Kohli & Co will be searching for six remaining wickets while South Africa will have to bat out of their skins to deny the tourist a victory.
The wicket is providing ample assistance to the seam bowlers, both in terms of movement and bounce, and South Africa will need a record chase in SuperSport if they are to win the game with the previous best being 251 for eight by England in 2000.
Earlier, resuming the penultimate day on 16/1, India added 63 runs in the first session at the loss of 2 wickets before the hosts bounced back in style to bowl out the tourists at 174.
While the tourists managed to counter the major threat of the morning session effectively, the hosts made the best use of the pitch in the second session and picked up 7 wickets in quick succession as India managed 95 runs during that period.
Kagiso Rabada took 4-42 while debutant left-arm seamer Marco Jansen (4-55) and Lungi Ngidi (2-31) were the other wicket-takers for South Africa. For the tourists, Rishabh Pant (34) was top-scorer in their second innings.

Although it will be bright & sunny at the start of day 4 at SuperSport Park, Centurion, it could change in the second session with a thunderstorm predicted. But as the weather changes pretty quickly in the highveld region, India will hope the sky stays clear. India would look to avoid early drama and mistakes that they had committed on Day 3.
