IND vs SA 2nd Test: Pro Palestine Protestors demanded sacking of South Africa U19 skipper David Teeger

Ahead of the start of the IND vs SA 2nd Test, a pro-Palestine group demonstrated their protest. The ground went on to raise anti-Israel slogans before the commencement of the Test Match. The group demanded the sacking of South Africa U19 captain David Teeger and demanded the for an independent Palestine.

The Pro-Palestine group was furious with the young skipper David Teeger who has voiced his support to the Israel army. Back in 2022, the youngster voiced his support to the Israel army which has infuriated the group of Protestors.

“David Teeger, you don’t deserve to captain our country,” shouted a protestor. Before the start of the game, the Protest continued outside the Newlands Ground in Cape Town. However, the protest didn’t delay the start of the game as the match resumed right on time.

Last year back in October of 2022, Teeger made a controversial statement. While receiving the ‘Rising Star’ award at the Jewish Achiever Awards, he went on to say, “I’ve been awarded this award, and yes, I am now the rising star, but the true rising stars are the young soldiers in Israel.”

Following his speech a complaint was lodged against the teen star. But Cricket South Africa absolved him during their internal inquiry. “The inquiry, chaired by advocate Wim Trengove SC, found Teeger had not contravened clause 1.5.2 of CSA’s Rules and Code of Conduct that governs ‘unbecoming or detrimental conduct which could bring them, CSA or the game of cricket into disrepute’,” read the inquiry statement.
