IND vs SA 2nd Test: Mohammed Siraj demolishes Proteas, exacts revenge on Dale Steyn’s fifer in Ahmedabad

You do, I do better - Mohammed Siraj takes revenge on Dale Steyn's fifer in Ahmedabad in 2008

Mohammed Siraj took the revenge of Dale Steyn’s spell against India in Ahmedabad. 2008. Steyn bagged a fifer that destroyed Indian team for just 76 runs. In 2024, Siraj went a step ahead. In Cape Town, for the IND vs SA 2nd Test, the ace pacer scalped a deadly six-fer to demolish the Proteas for just 55 runs.

Gone are the days of Dale Steyn when batters used to shiver upon hearing his name. The Proteas veteran pacer then on his peak form dominated the India Cricket Team. In the first session of play he weaved his magic with the new ball. Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh and S Sreesanth all fell victims to Steyn’s heroics.

Such was his intensity of his spell that the first session lasted just 110 minutes before an early lunch was drawn in.

On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj exacted revenge for that spell. After the defeat in the previous game, India roared back hard. The Proteas had no answer to Siraj’s spell who went on to scalp a fiery sixer to break SA’s back.

Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen all were scalped by the Indian pacer.
