Coming off a humiliating defeat in the IND vs SA 1st Test, Mohammed Siraj breathed fire in the ongoing New Year’s Test. The ace pacer scalped 4 early wickets early to strike a deadly blow to the Proteas. Siraj went on to scalp Aiden Markram, Dean Elgar and Tony de Zorzi. A few overs later he dispatched David Bedingham and then Marco Jansen for a duck. Kyle Verreynne departed next as India dominates the hosts
Mohammed Siraj dealt a massive blow to the Proteas top order. He went on to scalp 3 top order batters as the hosts are left reeling and clueless to the pacer’s destructive spell. His numbers are massive. After scalping Kyle Verreynne his numbers read 6/9.
Aiden Markram – The first wicket for Siraj on his second over. The pitched ball around the off stump forced the Proteas opener to play the stop rather than leaving it. Markram plays as the ball takes a thick outside edge to carry to the slip. But it was the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal who dives to take an extremely low catch as India bag their first wicket.
Dean Elgar – Playing his last Test match, Siraj got rid of the dangerman. A short of a length ball pitched outside the off stump takes Elgar by surprise. He wants to hit it for the covers, but the sheer pace of the ball drags it back into the stumps. Siraj jumps in joy as India takes 2 early wickets.
The other batters came and followed back to the pavilion as Siraj continued his exploits. Such has been Siraj’s prowess that he managed to scalp his six-fer in just 9 overs.
