Today, India secured a comprehensive 3-0 series win against South Africa after defeating them in the third Test by a convincing 337-run margin.

Even though the scorecard reflects India’s dominating win, the match was much harder and gripping. The second innings saw South Africa’s top-order batter displaying remarkable resilience, spending over 15 hours at the crease and adopting a survivalist approach that bordered on the heroic.

Temba Bavuma, Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, and Faf du Plessis showcased a masterclass in defensive batting, thwarting the Indian bowling attack for four intense sessions. Bavuma held firm for 153 minutes, Amla for an impressive 289, de Villiers for a marathon 354, and du Plessis for 120 minutes. Despite the eventual collapse, the Proteas managed to score 143 runs at a 0.99 per over, a testament to their tenacity in the face of adversity.

Ajinkya Rahane 2 centuries in a single Test

In the match, Ajinkya Rahane became the fifth Indian batter to score two hundreds in a single match. Rahane bagged 127 and 100 runs in both innings respectively. However, the magic was done by India’s legendary spin duo R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. They together collected 14 wickets in the match. The Indian bowlers have delivered 87 maiden overs to dominate against the proteas.

The series sweep strengthened India’s position in Test cricket, with their players consistently delivering exceptional performances.
