Ahead of the first Test, India’s head coach gave an insight into the team’s approach to tackle the bounce threat.

Dravid addresses India’s challenges ahead of IND vs SA Test

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Dravid noted that there was both an uneven bounce and seam in the South African pitches. The head coach elaborated on the challenges faced by Indian batters over the years on Proteas soil but backed the current side to emerge victorious on this occasion, citing their recent performances. Further, he stressed that it was essential for the team to tackle the South African pacers.

“We have been coming to South Africa since 1992. We have won some games, have made some draws, and many players have come. We have never won a series. One or two matches we had chance to win but we couldn’t. This is a short series. So you get time, and get time to bounce back. This time we will try to do well in both Tests. We have seen here lately that wickets are bouncy and there is seam, so it is difficult for batters. It is possible that one session or one passage of play you will have to control the game and then fight back or build partnerships”, Dravid said.
