IND vs SA 1st ODI: Smriti Mandhana outbats South Africa as India claim mammoth 143-run win

Smriti Mandhana nearly outscored the entire South Africa in the India vs South Africa Women’s 1st ODI at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Indian vice-captain scored a ‘player of the award’ worthy 117, and all the Proteas were able to muster was 122 in reply as they lost by 143 runs. Barring Harmanpreet Kaur, every Indian bowler claimed a wicket, with debutant Asha Sobhana being the pick of the bowlers.

India look to shake off rust

With the 2024 ODI World Cup already secured due to their host nation status, India enters this series with the primary goal of regaining their form in the 50-over format.

Having played only six ODIs since the start of 2023, India will be looking to use this series as preparation for the upcoming World Cup.

To achieve this, the team participated in two separate training camps in Bengaluru and Mumbai, including practice matches.
