IND vs PAK WTC Final still alive! How can Pakistan qualify for World Test Championship Final after Bangladesh loss

Despite a historic series loss to Bangladesh, Pakistan still stands a chance of booking a spot in the WTC finals with India in June 2025

Pakistan are still in contention for a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final despite losing their first-ever series to Bangladesh. Shan Masood and co. were completely outclassed by the visitors as their winless streak at home continues. Despite the setback, Pakistan still stand a chance to book their spot in the finals. But it will be a tall task in hand for the Men in Green.

How IND vs PAK clash at WTC final can be a reality

Pakistan have seven fixtures left before the WTC final in June 2025. The side will next take on England in a three-match Test series at home before heading into a two-month break from the longest format of the game. They will then play South Africa followed by the West Indies in a two-match series that will last till early January. Pakistan are currently 8th placed on the WTC standings with just 16 points to their name from two wins.

Needless to say, Pakistan will have to win majority of their remaining fixtures in order to qualify for the WTC final. India are currently on top of the standings and will be aiming to cement their position by defeating Bangladesh in the upcoming IND vs BAN series. Both India and Pakistan have a grueling international schedule starting from September, with both white-ball and red-ball contests lined up.

Latest news

Pakistan will have to pull their socks up, especially with the way they play at home. There will no more room for strategic blunders, such as the one made in PAK vs BAN 1st Test where the team went ahead with an all-pacer attack and having no spinner in the side.

There’s nothing to hide for Pakistan when it comes to their strategy while playing at home and what should have been used to their advantage but wasn’t done so far. The series against England is Pakistan’s only chance to get back to winning ways as they head into a series of overseas tours towards the end of this year. The next set of tours to SA and WI would mean Pakistan will be playing in away conditions and which means that they will be facing unfamiliar conditions.
