IND vs PAK: Asia Cup 2022 – Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has taken a mindless dig on India skipper Rohit Sharma. The criticism is uncalled for considering it is about his captaincy. Rohit has had a terrific start to his full-time tenure as India captain as he is yet to lose a T20I series in 2022. Hafeez though feels the India skipper is confused and won’t stay captain for long. “His form is in the decline. He had a poor IPL, after that his flow is missing. Plus the pressure of India. He is talking about a lot of things like the brand of cricket, playing positively, this and that but not reflecting by his own body language. It’s easy to talk, but to do it is difficult.

It’s not my prediction, but my opinion is that going forward, it will be difficult for him to continue leading. He might not be able to lead for a long time. I have always seen Rohit enjoying and expressing himself. Now, he is not expressing himself. Maybe he is lost in too many things. I feel sorry for him. I feel either he himself or the Indian think tank will decide on the matter,” Hafeez said on PTV Sports.

IND vs PAK: Why Mohammad Hafeez’s comments on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy are mindless?

  • Rohit Sharma has led India in 37 matches in T20Is and has won a staggering 31 matches.
  • In terms of wins, he is just behind MS Dhoni in India. Overall, Rohit is currently ranked behind only Eoin Morgan and Asghar Afghan, who have won 42 matches.
  • Hafeez’s comments does not make sense one bit. Yes, Rohit’s form has dipped, and he has not been able to score a century for over one year.
  • The India skipper’s captaincy is though spot on, and the team is winning matches continuously.
  • By the looks of it, Rohit will continue to captain India for a minimum period of two years.

“I don’t think Rohit can remain a captain for a long time. Because he is struggling with his form, and the things happening around him. I can feel that because I too have been a captain. I’ve always seen Rohit enjoying and expressing himself and now he’s not. He looks lost, he looks under pressure and I feel sorry for him,” Hafeez added.
