IND vs PAK Live: ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Live – Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody has picked India’s pace attack for its mega clash against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Surprisingly, he has left death-overs specialist Harshal Patel and instead gone ahead with the experience of Mohammad Shami. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh are his other two bowlers. The cricketer-turned-expert feels Shami should get the nod ahead of Harshal purely because of his experience. Follow IND vs PAK & ICC T20 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

“I’d be going with Shami. I’d just go with his experience. Obviously, Bhuvi and Arshdeep are the first two. I just think that in big tournaments, you back big players. And he’s a big player with a lot of experience. He may be short with some volume in his bowling, but that one over he bowled against Australia would have gone a long way with regards to not so much the physical side of things, but definitely the mental side of things,” Moody said to Star Sports.

IND vs PAK Live: Moody backs Shami to come good in Australian conditions

  • For the unreserved, Shami has not played any T20Is for India since the T20 World Cup 2021. Moody though feels that the last over he bowled against Australia in the warm-up was good.
  • Harshal is the team’s designated death-overs bowler since last year. He has played 23 T20Is and has picked up 26 wickets.
  • But since returning from injury, Harshal has not been at his lethal best in the death overs.
  • In the six T20Is against Australia and South Africa, the RCB bowler’s economy rate was over 10.
  • The right-arm pacer redeemed himself with figures of 2 for 26 against Western Australia in the warm-up game.
  • Moody though feels under pressure situations Shami will be good. The right-arm pacer held his nerves well against Australia in the warm-up game.
  • Shami also hits hard lengths, and Moody feels that will be handy in Melbourne.

“I think there’s one thing you need to take into consideration of the pitch. The pitch at The Gabba is a bouncy one. Is it going to be the same at the MCG? I wouldn’t take it for granted that it would be the same as The Gabba. Another thing to take into consideration is the big boundaries.

Yes, there will be big boundaries at the MCG, we know that. It’s a big venue, so the short ball and the use of that length, hard length, with that change of pace into that length, is the key to bowling at the MCG. So, I’m sure that both teams are very aware of what the tactical play is with the ball in those top-end overs and particularly in those defensive overs.”
