There are 60% chances of rain, meaning the match could be called off entirely or will be shortened. Interestingly, rain has played spoilsport in this edition of the T20 World Cup.
The warm-up match between West Indies and Netherlands on October 12 was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The match was washed out in Melbourne. On October 13, Zimbabwe vs Namibia game, Sri Lanka vs Ireland & Scotland vs UAE were called off. All three matches were scheduled to be played in Melbourne.

India’s official second warm-up game against New Zealand on October 19 has been abandoned. This match was supposed to be played in Brisbane. South Africa’s game against Bangladesh has also been called off due to rain in Gabba. As many as six matches have produced no result.
1) What if the MATCH is wiped out by RAIN? Will it be moved to the next day? The answer is NO. There are reserve days for both semifinals and the final, but no other matches have a reserve day. This means in case match is abandoned due to RAIN – both teams will split points & the match will not be moved to the next day.
2) How many overs are necessary for the RESULT? As per the ICC Guidelines, the minimum number of overs required to constitute a match in T20 cricket is five overs per side. The standard Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method will be used in the event of any rain delays.

Speaking about India they are likely set to play the same playing XI used against Australia. Dinesh Karthik is likely to keep wickets, with India opting to go with five bowlers including Hardik Pandya as the fourth pacer. There will be a toss-up for the second spinner between Axar Patel and Ashwin. Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will keep the spot as he is the lead spinner.
