Deepak Chahar who made a comeback to the India squad ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 tournament, failed to get his spot in the mega tournament. After being away from the Men in Blue squad for about 6 months, the star all-rounder featured for India in the India tour of Zimbabwe 3-match ODI series.
Initially, talks took place that Chahar would be a part of the 15-man squad for the Asia Cup and not a part of the reserve bench if he performed well against Zimbabwe. Though he performed decently well against the African opposition, he failed to impress Dravid and Co and thus misses the Asia Cup 2022 tournament.

The deadline day to submit the squad to ICC for the T20 World Cup is 15th September. Teams can announce the squad ahead of the date or officially after 15th September. But for India, the selection meeting will take place after the Asia Cup, and therefore only after the 13th of September can we be sure whether Chahar has been included in the squad or not.
