The wickets were absolutely crucial for India with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan being the architects of Pakistan’s 10-wicket win over India in Dubai last year. The duo had made light work of India’s 152-target with half-centuries of their own. On Sunday, the duo managed just two amongst them all thanks to the skill and precision of Arshdeep.
In his second spell, Arshdeep struck with yet another well-delivered bouncer to get rid of Asif Ali. The Pakistan finisher was surprised by the short ball and only managed to nick it to Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps. Arshdeep eventually finished with figures of 3/32 in his four overs in a fine outing at the MCG.

As for the left-arm pacer, it is a complete redemption in just his first World Cup game. Arshdeep was the centre of trolls and social media hate after India had lost to Pakistan in the Asia Cup, with the 23-year-old guilty of grassing a simple catch. The pacer has responded in style and shut the doubts of his detractors with a fine spell of bowling on Sunday.
