It’s OFFICIAL! India vs Pakistan World Cup match on Oct 15 in Ahmedabad

The Two arch-rivals will go toe-to-toe against each other at the world's largest cricket stadium.

IND vs PAK: ICC on Tuesday revealed that India vs Pakistan WC 2023 match will happen on October 15 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. IND vs PAK is one of the biggest and mouth watering clashes of the ICC World Cup 2023. The Two arch-rivals will go toe-to-toe against each other at the world’s largest cricket stadium. Despite the PCB’s request in change of venues, both the BCCI and the ICC turned down their requests and the schedule was proceeded as per the initial draft schedule.

The apex cricketing bodies of both the nations have been at cross roads for quite sometime. With the ongoing conflict about the Asia Cup, the drama continued with the ICC World Cup as well. When plans were brought forward about the choice of the venues, the Pakistan Cricket Board made it absolutely clear that they won’t face India in Ahmedabad.

The showcase tournament (ICC World Cup 2023) will feature a total of 10 teams, the first eight of whom have previously qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The Qualifier competition in Zimbabwe, which ends on July 9, will determine the remaining two slots.

The top four teams advance to the knockout stage and semifinals after each team plays the other nine teams in a round robin style.

Furthermore, the demand remained the same when ICC released the draft schedule a couple of weeks back as another prospectus venue, i.e Chennai was taken into consideration. But PCB then went on to claim that they want the ICC to change further two of their match venues.

PCB made it clear that they won’t take on their arch rivals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad citing Safety corners. PCB also claimed that the Pakistan Team are not comfortable in facing Afghanistan in a spin heavy Chennai Pitch and neither are they keen on facing Australia in a high run scoring pitch at Bengaluru. PCB demanded that the venues for AFG and AUS games be swapped.

But the ICC and BCCI paid no need to those demands and the schedule is set to go as per previously planned in the draft schedule. This means that Rohit Sharma and Co will go on to face Babar Azam and his boys on October 15th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in what promises to be a highly entertaining clash.
