The two sides have met each other four times in Sri Lanka (neutral venue). Their head-to-head in these matches is 1-1, with two games ending in no result.

Their first encounter came in the 1997 Asia Cup at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, an encounter that was washed out. Pakistan won the second encounter by 59 runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium in the 2004 Asia Cup.

India tied the head-to-head 1-1 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, beating their rivals by 3 wickets in the Asia Cup 2010. The third and last encounter came at the Pallekele Stadium in the Asia Cup 2023, when the match was washed out after India had completed their first innings.
