The India Cricket Team will take on New Zealand for their last group stage match in the ICC Champions Trophy. Former Indian pace legend Zaheer Khan has suggested a change in the India Playing XI. He has claimed that there is no need to use Mohammed Shami and instead Arshdeep Singh should be used for the game.
After the match against Pakistan, reports emerged that Mohammed Shami is not 100% fit. Like other pundits, Zaheer too said that India doesn’t need to take any extra risks. Zaheer suggested using Arshdeep Singh on India Playing XI while Shami can be rested for the game.

“If there is any bit of doubt around Shami’s fitness, if he’s going to be available or not in the semis and finals, then this is the opportunity Arshdeeep to get a look in. He’s been with the team in this format but has not got a game, and you don’t want him directly facing the music in a big occasion like the finals. So I think the Indian team will be looking at it from that aspect and Shami, even if he’s fit, you might see Arshdeep making the playing XI,” Zaheer Khan said.
After last day’s match, Shami and Rohit reportedly had niggles. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh hasn’t got the nod for the tournament. In both the previous games, it was youngster Harshit Rana who paired with Shami for the games against Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the entire pace attack is being led by Mohammed Shami. He has taken over the responsibility of leading the charge in the absence of injured Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has been snubbed from the squad and is a non-traveling reserve for the squad.
