IND vs NZ LIVE: India vs NewZealand LIVE: The rise and fall of Jammu Express Umran Malik was as fast as his deliveries. He did not impress Rahul Dravid or VVS Laxman. His pace was not enough to secure a berth in Team India’s T20 team. But with two years to go for the next T20 WC, Umran Malik is no more one trick pony. He is developing some searing yorkers to bamboozle Kane Williamson & Co. He is first name to be back in India’s T20 REBOOT. With an opportunity on NZ tour, Jammu & Kashmir’s fielding coach Tanmay Srivastava told InsideSport that Umran has been working hard on a new set of weapons. Malik was a part of the Jammu & Kashmir squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2022 ahead of the New Zealand tour. As per, Jammu & Kashmir fielding coach Tanmay Srivastava, the express pacer is working on his fitness and upping his bowling skillset.

“He (Umran Malik) is very open-minded. He talks to everyone at the nets. He is practising yorkers at the nets. But his top ball remains the quicker ones,” Srivastava told InsideSport.

“Board is taking good care of him. He was at the NCA for fitness training. He will learn more as he plays more cricket at top level and will do wonders for the team.”

Srivastava believes one of the major aspects which will act as a catalyst in Malik’s growth is his fitness and athleticism. Besides that, he is a naturally gifted pacer which can help him add variations to his arsenal over the years.

But Umran rocked the world with only his pace. What he lacked were variations. But as he depended only on pace, it didn’t help him in anyway on Ireland or England tours. Both Irish and English batters were comfortable playing his 145kph deliveries. The bowler who was clocking 154KPH in IPL was suddenly below 150 on his international journey. But after being dropped from the team, Umran Malik 2.0 is expected to be lethal.

“Umran Malik is a very good athlete and he is the fastest that I’ve ever seen. At SMAT 2022, the keeper had to stand so far behind. He is quick and is a gifted medium pacer and is learning more these days,” the former India U-19 star said.

“I have never seen someone bowling so quickly. Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee of course. But I think this guy is bowling really fast,” Srivastava concluded.
