IND vs NZ T20: Ruturaj Gaikwad Injury – BCCI is furious with National Cricket Academy over repeated injuries. Ruturaj Gaikwad is the latest to suffer same injury twice and miss India matches. Gaikwad has been ruled out a wrist injury. This is the same injury he suffered last year ahead of SriLanka series and missed out. BCCI has asked the NCA to submit a report on injury rehabilitation status of players by February 1. Rohit Sharma already slammed the NCA over Deepak Chahar’s repeated injuries and BCCI is taking cognizance of the matter. Follow India vs NewZealand LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
After playing Ranji Trophy match for Maharashtra, Gaikwad reported to the NCA directly after he felt pain in his wrist. He found no place in India’s Playing XI against SriLanka this time as Shubman Gill opened with Ishan Kishan. While BCCI has not made it official yet, InsideSport understands that selectors will not name a replacement.
“Yes, Ruturaj is in NCA with a wrist injury. we don’t know yet whether it is serious. But considering the short turnout time for the matches, it is unlikely that he will be able to make it in time. He is undergoing scans and we will know more once reports come in. We already have 4-5 openers available. But it is up to the selectors to name a replacement,” a senior BCCI official confirmed to InsideSport.
