IND vs NZ Series: Rahul Dravid’s master-act, individually calls each player as he resumes coaching role

Rahul Dravid’s Master Act – BCCI on Friday named India’s test squad for the two match series. According to sources, after Dravid’s ONE to ONE conversation with the players – selectors were informed on Thurday on the availability of the players. Post Dravid’s conversation with the Indian cricketers, selectors named India’s squad.

  • Dravid called each player individually
  • He asked players about state of their mental & physical fitness
  • Asked them to take REST if REQUIRED
  • Assured them of their PLACES in the Indian team, even if youngster comes and performs big
  • Also did brief conversation on what he & the Indian cricket expects out of the individual

IND vs NZ Series – Ajinkya Rahane to lead India, Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli to rest

Indian Squad for New Zealand Test Series: After individual calls with members of the Indian squad, it was decided to rest some of the key squad members before team departs for very difficult tour of SOUTH AFRICA.

As informed by InsideSport on Wednesday, India’s T20 captain Rohit Sharma will be rested for the two test series & in Ajinkya Rahane will lead India in Rohit & regular captain Virat Kohli’s absence.

Going forward, India has completely packed schedule till the next T20 World Cup in Australia. Indian squad will leave for South Africa on December 8 and will play 3 Tests, 3 ODI & 4 T20’s.

The tour will be followed by gruelling home season which includes the series vs the West Indies & Sri Lanka followed by 10 team IPL 2022.

Seeing this gruelling schedule, Dravid & the think tank decided to speak to the players to check how their physical & mental state of mind. Players who are feeling tired & jaded are given rest for the test series vs New Zealand.

Key Players who will not features in Test Series vs World Test Champions New Zealand

  • Virat Kohli – Will miss 1st Test, Participation in 2nd Test will be his call
  • Rohit Sharma – Will be rested for entire series
  • Jasprit Bumrah – Will be rested for entire series
  • Mohammed Shami – Will be rested for entire series
  • Rishabh Pant – Will be rested for entire series
  • Shardul Thakur – Will be rested for entire series
  • Ravindra Jadeja – Doesn’t want to rest, will play series vs NZ
  • R.Ashwin – Doesn’t want to rest, will play series vs NZ

The above list means India will have virtually fresh pace attack that will be unleashed on the Kiwis. Fit again Ishant Sharma will lead India’s attack along with Mohammed Siraj & Umesh Yadav.
