IND vs NZ Practice Live: India will have a practice session today at the Dharamshala stadium ahead of their World Cup game against New Zealand tomorrow. With all-rounder Hardik Pandya ruled out of the game against the Kiwis, all eyes will be on Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav in today’s practice session. The Dharamshala surface will provide ample assistance to pacers, and Shami is in line to play his first WC of the 2023 edition.
Hardik’s absence has also opened the door to play an extra batter or bowler. With Shardul Thakur not performing well, Rohit Sharma might bring in Surya in place of Hardik and Shami in place of Thakur. Over the years, Shami has proven to be a powerplay specialist by taking wickets upfront on helpful bowling conditions.
Dharamshala’s surface aids pacers more, as evidenced in the three games that have played in the World Cup. Shami can be hadful in such conditions, and Rohit and head coach Rahul Dravid would keep a close eye on Shami on how he goes about his business in the practice session today.

IND vs NZ: Eye on SKY, Shami
Considering India batters struggle against Trent Boult, the chance of Surya playing increases. Boult has been the biggest thorn in the flesh of India. The left-arm pacer’s three wickets in the 2019 semifinal WC match between these two teams enabled heartbreak for billions of Indians. Seeing Boult would be the number one agenda of Indians.
However, the possibility of top-order collapse cannot be ruled out. Here India can think of playing an extra batter in place of Hardik. Also, Shami has a great record in helpful bowling conditions, and he could prove to be a great asset for India at Dharamshala against the spirited New Zealand.
