IND vs NZ: Why Hooda is set to keep his place as the spin-allrounder?
- Hooda’s bowling stocks have risen after the stellar performance at Bay Oval
- While there is no doubt about the 26-year-old’s class with the bat in hand, the all-rounder has also shown what he can do with the ball in hand.
- Yadav cannot bat, and with Yuzvendra Chahal playing as a specialist leg-spinner, skipper Hardik wants batting as well more options with the ball in hand.
- While Hooda has had success as off-spinner in the ODI format, in the T20IS with figures of 4 for 10, the all-rounder has shown he can chip in a few overs and also pick wickets.
- With the bat in hand, also the all-rounder has shown he is pretty flexible and can anywhere bat from one to seven.
- For now, coach Laxman and skipper Pandya are willing to give Hooda more chances and see if he fulfills the role of batting all-rounder.
What next for Kuldeep Yadav?
Yadav has been unlucky with few injuries in 2022. While the chainaman picked up 22 wickets in 14 IPL games in 2022, Yadav could not continue that form as he got injured. With India ready to follow the England module of stacking the team with more all-rounders and batting might, the KKR spinner might well have to warm benches.
