IND vs NZ: New Kit, but Blackcaps spirits high as they embark on a new era – The jersey may be different, but Blackcaps spirits are as high as ever. New Zealand also announced their T20 and ODI squad for the white-ball series against India. Two notable exclusions are Martin Guptill and Trent Boult. New Zealand have preferred youth over experience, and have included Finn Allan in both squads. Incidentally, it was youngster Finn who kept a class player Guptill out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to his fearless batting.
Meanwhile, Boult is dropped from both T20 and ODI squads, as New Zealand continue to place their bets on the new crop of pacers like Adam Milne, Blair Tickner, and Ferguson. Kiwis have a youthful team, as they embark on a new era in the ODI and T20 formats sans a few seasoned campaigners.
“When Trent opted out of his NZC contract in August, we indicated that priority would be given to those players with either central or domestic contracts. And that’s been the case here,” he said.
“The emergence and success of Finn at the top of the order in white-ball cricket means a guy of the class of Martin Guptill misses out. That’s just the nature of high-performance sport.
“With the 50-over World Cup less than a year away we’re keen to give Finn every opportunity. He should keep gaining ODI experience. Especially against quality opposition such as India.
