England’s Jim Laker was the first to achieve the rare milestone in 1956. Former India captain Anil Kumble emulated the feat in 1999 against Pakistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and now in the 2438th Test match – left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel has joined the elusive list on Saturday by dismissing Mohammed Siraj.

The time is just fine to recall the other top performances by overseas bowlers in India.

  1. Nathan Lyon: Veteran Australia spinner Nathan Lyon had wreaked havoc in India by taking 8 wickets for 50 runs in Bengaluru in 2017. Despite the stellar performance, India won the match by 75 runs. The figures till date are best in an innings for the tweaker.

2. Lance Klusener: The former South Africa all-rounder had picked 8 wickets for 64 runs in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens in 1996. South Africa had won the match by a massive 329 runs.

3. Sikander Bakht: The Pakistan bowler also took 8 wickets after spending 69 runs in Delhi in 1979. The match had ended in a draw.

4. Jason Kreza: The former Australian off-spinner also finds him in the elite. The 38-year-old had scalped 8 wickets after spending 215 runs in Nagpur in 2008. India won the match by 172 runs.

5. Fazal Mahmood: Former Pakistan pacer Fazal Mahmood also finds a place with his figures of 7 for 42 in Lucknow in 1952.
