The incident took place in the 77th over of New Zealand’s innings. R Ashwin who was bowling round the wicket earlier went across the stumps and umpire Nitin Menon was seen having a chat with him.
As per the on-air commentary, the discussion was about R Ashwin coming in the line of the non-striker and obstructing him to take off for a quick single along with obstructing the vision of the umpire in his follow-through.
It has been learned that Ashwin has had repeated arguments with umpires on obstructing vision and Rahul Dravid then spoke to the match referee Srinath on the incident too.

Meanwhile, the umpiring in the ongoing Kanpur Test has been pretty ordinary so far. A total of 6 decisions from the on-field umpires – Nitin Mennon and Virender Sharma – have been overturned, including 3 alone against New Zealand opener Tom Latham. The Kiwi opener was given out thrice on Day 1 by the on-field umpires on his way to fifty. However, Latham survived on all occasions with the help of DRS.
Former India opener and now a cricket analyst and commentator Aakash Chopra took to Twitter to show disappointment to the dismal umpiring.
Umpiring has been fairly ordinary in this Test thus far. #IndvNZ
