IND vs NZ LIVE – IND NZ 1ST ODI: Considered “THE TIGERS AT HOME,” Team India has a mighty impressive ODI record at home. With just one home series loss in the last three years, the Blues have been a dominant force at home. However, with the tour of New Zealand, India faces its biggest challenge. Team India’s HOME DOMINANCE is under KIWI THREAT. For the record, India hasn’t beaten New Zealand in its last five outings. Their record against the Black Caps in the last 10 games is even more abysmal. With the pressure on to maintain its home dominance, it will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma and company can turn the tide against the Black Caps. Team India will be high on confidence after thrashing Sri Lanka 3-0 at home. However, New Zealand presents a different set of challenge altogether. The Black Caps might not have the services of experienced Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, but the Black Caps have never been about individuals brilliance. The Kiwis always bank on producing a collective team effort.

Team India’s abysmal record against New Zealand

Don’t be startled by the fact that it is New Zealand and not India that start the series as favourites. Despite the fact that India is playing at home, New Zealand has the advantage and the momentum going into the 1st ODI in Hyderabad.

  • India is yet to beat New Zealand in an ODI since Feb 04, 2019.
  • The Kiwis have defeated India in the last 5 ODIs, that also includes the 2019 World Cup semi-final in Manchester.
  • India has beaten New Zealand just once in the last 8 ODIs.
  • India’s last win against New Zealand came in Wellington three years back

Let’s also talk about India’s latest ODI record against New Zealand at home. The record tilts slightly in favor of “Men in Blue,” but not by much.

India has won three of the last five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against New Zealand at home.

The Black Caps have been extremely competitive and have won two matches.

There is not much to choose from when it comes to the overall record between India and New Zealand. In 113 matches, India has won 55 matches, while New Zealand has bagged 50 matches.

How can India turn things around?

For the past three years, the one thing that has remained common in India vs. New Zealand battles is that they have all been played outside India. Seven out of the last eight ODIs were played in New Zealand, and India hasn’t been able to breach their fortress.

The Blues need to do something similar when the ODI series kicks off in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Playing in India provides the Blues with a home advantage as well as crowd support. On top of it, both the batting and bowling departments have been firing on all cylinders.

The openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, are doing well, and Virat Kohli at number three has started off 2023 with a bang. Kohli, who has already scored two hundreds this year, will be raring to go against the Kiwis.

The bowling has also done well, with Mohammed Siraj leading the pack well. New Zealand might have the stats in their favor, but playing in India, both the form and momentum are with the Blues.

There is also added motivation for the Men in Blue to do well against the Black Caps. With the home series win against New Zealand, India also stands a chance to become the top-ranked ODI side in the world.
