Axar Patel returned with 5/62 on Day 3 against New Zealand and helped the host bounce back in the game after the dominant show from both the Kiwi openers – Will Young and Tom Latham. After Ashwin broke the opening stand between Tom Latham and Will Young, it was an Axar Patel show, as he made full use of the conditions to register yet another Test fifer.

The Gujarat all-rounder became the joint second-fastest bowler in the history of Test cricket to pick the 5th Test five wickets haul (fewest innings)and also joined an elite list of bowlers with the most 5-wicket hauls in their first 4 Test matches.
