IND vs NZ 1st T20: Prithvi Shaw Sweats out in the nets as wait for India Return continues, takes special training from Rahul Dravid – Check out
Prithvi Shaw made his comeback in the Indian team after almost a year. He has replaced KL Rahul for the T20I series. Shaw will be a strong contender to feature in the playing XI. He will give stiff competition to Shubman Gill, who is also vying for the opening position.
- Shaw played his T20I game in July 2021 against SriLanka.
- Despite performing extremely well in the domestic arena, Shaw was not given the chance to represent the Men in Blue.
- Shaw smashed a record-breaking 379 runs in this year’s Ranji Trophy, which earned him a call-up for the national side.
- Shaw has some decent numbers in 20-over format.
- The 23-year-old has played 92 T20 games and has amassed 2401 runs.
- Shaw plays at an astonishing strike rate of 151.67 with 18 fifties and one century to his name.
Despite waiting for so long, Shaw might have to wait a little bit longer to get his chance. The Indian skipper Hardik Pandya had earlier confirmed that Shubman Gill be opening alongside Ishan Kishan for the first T20I encounter.
Replying to a query, Pandya said, “Nahi sir. Shubman ne bohot achha kiya hai so usko pehle mauka milega. Actually, mauke ki baat hi nahi hai. (No sir. Shubman has done really well so he will get the opportunity first. In fact, with him it doesn’t even come down to opportunities) Shubman will start because the way he is batting, he will obviously be in the team.”
