India’s veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an exceptional spell on Thursday at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Kumar bowled consecutive maiden overs and clean-bowled Vikramjit Singh in his second over. He became just the four bowlers to be consecutive maidens in T20 world Cup history.
Other instances of bowlers bowling two back-to-back maidens upfront in a T20 World Cup match of Graeme Swann vs Afghanistan (2012), Nuwan Kulasekara vs Netherlands (2014) and Rangana Herath vs New Zealand (2014). It was also the ninth maiden of his career, the joint most by a bowler in T20Is alongside teammate Jasprit Bumrah.

Overall, Sunil Narine has bowled most maidens in all T20s with 27 to his name. Shakib Al Hasan has 23 to his name with Samuel Badree third on the list with 21. Bhuvneshwar is fourth with 20 to his name, the most by an Indian. Bumrah meanwhile has 19 to his name and is sixth on the list.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled just three overs in his spell, finishing with figures of 2/9. The veteran pacer has been in fine form, and had registered figures of 1/22 in his four overs.
