IND vs IRE: Team India is set to take on Ireland in a five-match T20I series. The three T20 Internationals are set to be played on August 18, 20 and 23 and the Indian team is likely to rest the likes of Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill. Meanwhile, several big names including Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer might be making their return to the Men in Blue squad. In this article, we will take a look at players who might make their comeback in the Indian squad in the T20I clash against Ireland.
1. Jasprit Bumrah
BCCI had provided a huge update on his recovery earlier this week stating that express pacer Bumrah had started bowling at full intensity in the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He is bowling at full capacity at NCA and is expected to participate in the warm-up games. With Bumrah returning to the fold team India will be receive a major boost in their pace department ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup.
2. Prasidh Krishna
Apart from Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna is also expected to make a comeback in the Indian squad. To note, Krishna has also completed his rehab and is deemed fit ahead of the Ireland tour. To note, Krishna played his last game for India against Zimbabwe in August 2022. The pacer has played 14 matches and scalped 25 wickets at an average of 23.92.
3. KL Rahul
Ahead of the main tournaments including Asia Cup and World Cup, one of the main challenges for Team India is the absence of their first-choice wicketkeeper, KL Rahul. In the existing squad, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson have been selected as the wicket-keeper batters, but the question remains as to where they will bat. Rahul has an impressive in the 50-over format and it will be a big dent if the Men in Blue lose his services in the upcoming matches.
4. Deepak Chahar
Chahar has been one of the most injury prone cricketers in recent times and it looks like he is getting ready to make his mark once again in the blue jersey as he was seen polishing his art in the nets. With Hardik Pandya being the sole pace-bowling all-rounder of repute, Chahar is seemingly trying to position himself as an alternative for that role also. The all-rounder might be seen in action during the Ireland tour.
5. Shreyas Iyer
Just like Chahar, batter Shreyas Iyer has also resumed batting in the nets but his selection for the T20I squad against Ireland might not be confirmed. To note, Iyer missed the entire IPL 2023 season with back injury. However, the right-handed batter will want to make a comeback in the Indian squad ahead of the crucial tournaments.
