The Indian team is scheduled to play the fifth Test against England in Dharamshala from Thursday, and once again, there is a lot of speculation, as to what would be the team combination for Rohit Sharma & Co. While many are expecting the wicket to aid the spinners, traditionally, the weather and the recent Ranji Trophy matches, seem to have aided the pacers.
On the eve of the final Test, skipper Rohit made it clear, that while the team combination is still unclear, they might play an extra pacer. Upon being asked the question, he was quoted as saying by News18, “There is a good chance to play extra seamer. We have not completely decided on it, but there is a good chance.”
In all likelihood, if Team India does go with the extra pacer, it could be Akash Deep, who not only picked three wickets in his debut match at Ranchi, but also has extra pace, as compared with Mukesh Kumar, the fourth fast-bowling option for India.
Elaborating further on the conditions he said, “I have not played a Test match here in Dharamshala. Both seamers and spinners played back in 2017 Test. Looking at the pitch, it looks like a good one. It will be a typical Indian pitch with some movement at the start and some towards the end.”
