IND vs ENG Test: Washington Sundar released from India squad, to play Ranji Trophy

Washington Sundar will join the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy squad that wil take on Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semifinals starting March 2.

All-rounder Washington Sundar who has been warming the bench has been released from India squad for IND vs ENG Test. He will play Ranji Trophy semifinals for Tamil Nadu which begins on March 2. The youngster was named in the squad for the last three Tests as a backup for Ravichandran Ashwin.

However, with Ashwin returning to form with a fifer in the IND vs ENG 4th Test, Sundar has no role to play, especially with the pitch for final Test set to have a seam-friendly pitch.

As per an Indian Express report, Washington Sundar will play for Tamil Nadu in their Ranji Trophy semifinal match against Mumbai.

Tamil Nadu qualified for the semifinals after beating defending champions Saurashtra by an innings and 33 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah to rejoin

However, good news for Team India is that Jasprit Bumrah will rejoin the Test squad on March 3 in Dharamsala.

India’s pace spearhead got a break from IND vs ENG 4th Test. Rohit Sharma & Co are also on a short break after clinching the series in Ranchi. They will rejoin assemble in Dharamsala on March 3.

However, it is unclear whether KL Rahul will be fit for the IND vs ENG 4th Test. The batter has missed the last three Tests with an injury.
