Former England captain Michael Vaughan on Monday offered some word of advice for England ahead of the IND vs ENG Test series. Vaughan, in a column on The Telegraph, referred to English Premier League side Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s strategical tweaks and urged the England team to have multiple strategies up their sleeves.
The IND vs ENG Test series will commence from January 25 with the first Test set to be played in Hyderabad. The 5-match Test series has garnered a lot of interest with former cricketers from both nations having their say regarding strategies and plannings.
Ahead of the series opener, Vaughan in an interesting comparison with Manchester City’s tactical tweaks since Spanish manager Pep Guardiola came in, said England can follow City’s approach of having that extra trick up their sleeves.
“For England, my message is that you cannot win in India playing only one way. There is no great sporting team that simply plays one way every time. Pep Guardiola adapts Manchester City’s style and tweaks their formation, which is why they’ve won everything,” Vaughan said.
Notably, Manchester City under Pep Guardiola won the treble of Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup last season. Guardiola is one of the most successful coaches ever, having won titles for clubs of multiple countries.
