IND vs ENG Test Series: Joe Root bowling style & stats

Joe Root has played 135 Test matches for England and has bowled 816.3 overs in his career, taking 60 wickets.

The India vs England Test series will start in a couple of days. Although no one is giving the England cricket team much chance, their fearless approach and quality players make them extremely dangerous. However, if they wish to win, they’ll need their top performer, Joe Root, to not only be at his best with the bat but also chip in with the ball.

Root had done well on the last England tour of India, both with the bat and the ball. This included a magnificent fifer in Ahmedabad.

With Harry Brook out, England will need to strengthen their batting, and in doing so, they might be a bowler short. To accommodate such a change, they’ll need Root to step up and bowl a few overs. So, here are Joe Root bowling style and stats before the IND vs ENG Test series:

Joe Root bowling style

Joe Root is a right-arm off-spinner. The six-foot-tall bowler gets good bounce due to his height and due to his hit-the-deck type of bowling. Although seen as an occasional spinner, Root spins the ball massively sideways and even has a fifer in Test cricket.

In Indian conditions where the ball spins and keeps low as well, the former English skipper can be quite a handful bowler to face.

Joe Root has taken 60 wickets in his 135-match-long Test career. Almost half of these (25) have come at home in England, and the majority of them are against Australia (23).
