Chance for others: Rahul Dravid optimistic despite Virat Kohli’s absence in IND vs ENG Test

IND vs ENG: Rahul Dravid optimistic on Virat Kohli's absence, claims new opportunity for someone else to step up in the team

One of the biggest misses for the India Cricket Team will be Virat Kohli. The star batter has pulled out of the first 2 IND vs ENG Test matches for personal reasons. While Kohli will be missing, Rahul Dravid is not upset on missing out on his star batter. The India head coach is optimistic that it is an opportunity for someone else to step up.

The Indian Cricket Team received a major blow just 3 days before the IND vs ENG 1st Test in Hyderabad. Virat Kohli pulled out of the first 2 games citing personal reasons. This essentially means that India had to change their batting line-up strategy. Furthermore, India will also name a substitute player before the 1st match.

“Any team with the miss the quality of a player like Virat. He’s a phenomenal player and his record speaks for itself,” said Rahul Dravid at the Pre Match Press Conference in Hyderabad.

Virat Kohli has been a star batter for the Indian Cricket Team for a long time. Rahul Dravid heaped praises for the batter and claimed that he is a phenomenal player. Furthermore, Kohli’s athleticism and aggression on the field serves as a huge benefit while fielding.

However, as per Dravid there is no harm done. He believes that the absence of Kohli will pave the way for someone else to step up in the team.

“On the field, his presence is a huge boost to the side. Having said that, it presents another opportunity for somebody else to step up,” India’s Head Coach added.
