The England Cricket team has been dubbed as the underdogs heading into the IND vs ENG Test series. However, former England skipper Nasser Hussain believes that England now has a chance to in the first 2 Test matches with no Virat Kohli.
Naseer Hussain has been a big admirer of Virat Kohli. However, with Kohli missing the first 2 Test matches, Hussain believes as underdogs, England will have a fighting chance against the hosts.
In a huge blow to the Indian Cricket Team, it was revealed that Virat Kohli won’t play the first 2 matches citing personal reasons.
“My first thought is that we wish Virat well. Like Brook, he’s taken a step back for personal reasons, and everyone in the game should respect that. Some things are more important than cricket. But there’s no doubt that India, and the series, will miss him,” Nasser Hussain wrote on The Daily Mail.
Chance for England?
Team India with Kohli can be a chance for England to fight back. At least that is what Nasser Hussain believes. He joins the likes of other pundits who have labelled England as underdogs and will perform badly against India.
“He’s also been in great form, and his absence from Thursday’s first Test at Hyderabad and next week’s second at Visakhapatnam deprives fans all over the world from watching a genius at work. That said, any team would suffer when a player of Kohli’s class drops out, and it gives England a glimmer of hope in the first two Tests of a series in which they begin as clear underdogs,” Hussain concluded.
