India Cricket Team are in a tough spot. They are 0-1 down and will miss a string of superstars. To start with, Mohammed Shami is out of the series while Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are doubtful for the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. The only good news is regarding KL Rahul. His injury is not of serious concern and will likely to be back for the 3rd Test. Hence, Ajit Agarkar-led BCI selection committee has plenty of headaches to pick the squad for the last three Tests.
Mohammed Shami
The pacer is nursing an ankle injury. He is currently in London to consult a specialist. As per a Cricbuzz report, he is taking injections for his condition. However, he is not in a condition to play Test match. Hence, his return is only likely in IPL 2024.
Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury while batting in the IND vs ENG 1st Test. He will require more time to recover from the injury. A hamstring strain could take up 6-8 weeks and he could miss the Rajkot Test starting Feb 15.
Virat Kohli
The superstar pulled out of the IND vs ENG first two Tests due to personal reasons. As per reports, he remains out of the country with no timeline on his return yet.
BCCI in a statement requested for privacy on Kohli’s matter. While many speculated that Kohli’s mother might be ill, his elder brother Vikas Kohli quashed those rumours.
KL Rahul
The only good news is regarding KL Rahul. The batter is out of IND vs ENG 2nd Test in Vizag. However, he is set to recover by the 3rd Test in Rajkot. Rahul felt pain in the right thigh. It is the same quadricep for which Rahul had to undergo a surgery.
KL Rahul will report to the NCA and the BCCI expects him to recover by the Rajkot Test.
