IND vs ENG Test: ‘Might open with two spinners’ James Anderson claims England might take unusual approach in India

James Anderson claims England might take unusual approach to counter India in IND vs ENG Test series

Ahead of the IND vs ENG Test series, ace England Cricket Team pacer James Anderson has claimed that they might open with two spinners. It needs to be seen how England can implement their ‘Bazball’ approach in Indian conditions. Anderson has further claimed that it is difficult to bowl to set batters in India.

India is set to lock horns with England for a 5-match Test series starting from 25th January. Ahead of the start of the series, veteran pacer James Anderson has talked about the challenges that the Three Lions will face when bowling in Indian conditions.

“We might open with two spinners. Your role changes a huge amount then, you come on third or fourth change with set batsmen in. That is the challenge of playing in India,” James Anderson told The Telegraph.

England is traveling to India with 4 seamers. But Anderson expects that there won’t be much of seam bowling. With Indian pitches not favoring English pacers, England might opt to start the innings with 2 spinners instead.

England to open with Spinners India?

“There are only four seamers going so we will not be expecting to bowl a huge amount of seam. It is just a slightly different role. You might not bowl the overs you do in England but they are still important. These are the things we will pass on to the guys. Reverse swing will play a big part. There might be occasions where we don’t open with a seamer,” he added.

“We will look to play the same way of the last two years but be smart about it. Nobody had us down to win 3-0 in Pakistan and we can take huge confidence from that. Conditions could be similar, not identical, but slow wickets for seamers and we have to be smart,” he concluded.
