IND vs ENG Test: Avesh Khan released to play Ranji, Mukesh to remain with squad

Avesh Khan won't link up with the Team India despite being named in the squad. Instead, he will be a reserve pacer and will be called up if necessary.

Out of four pacers Indian Cricket Team have in the squad, only three will be available for selection in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test. Team India have let Avesh Khan link up with Madhya Pradesh squad for Ranji Trophy. Mukesh Kumar will remain as a backup to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj in Vizag Test.

Avesh Khan received a call-up during the South Africa tour. He was subsequently called up for the IND vs ENG Test series. However, with the Hyderabad pitch suitable for spinners, India picked up three spinners. Mukesh Sharma remained on the bench.

However, Avesh Khan was released from the squad to play for Madhya Pradesh in Ranji Trophy. He could only manage a wicket against Pondicherry in the match.

Avesh will remain as a reserve player and will get a call-up if necessary.

IND vs ENG Vizag Test awaits

After defeat in Hyderabad, Rohit Sharma & Co have travelled to Visakhapatnam for the IND vs ENG 2nd Test.

And as things stand India will go with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Thus, Mukesh Kumar will continue to remain a backup option. As Avesh Khan is deemed surplus, he will play for Madhya Pradesh against Himachal Pradesh.
