IND vs ENG Test: 3 important discussions in selection meeting for India squad

IND vs ENG Test: India Squad announcement soon, board set to discuss on Bumrah, Kohli and KL Rahul

The BCCI Selection Committee is set to discuss three crucial factors for India squad selection. The IND vs ENG Test series is on and the India squad for the remainder of the series needs to be announced. Apart from the ongoing injury crisis, there are question on resting Jasprit Bumrah. Furthermore, the uncertainty on Virat Kohli persists.

The BCCI selection committee is set to meet within the next 24 hours. The squad is set to be announced soon. The final list of squad will be for the remaining 3 matches.

Jasprit Bumrah Rested, Siraj Returns

The BCCI are keen to focus on the workload management of the players. Over the 2 Test matches, Bumrah has bowled 58 overs and thus will be rested for the 3rd Test. In his place, Mohammed Siraj is set to return in Rajkot. The board wants to keep the players fresh and injury free before the T20 World Cup.

Keeping at par with the plan, Siraj was rested for the Vizag Test. Though Siraj didn’t bowl much in the Hyderabad Test, he was rested in the following game. Now the pacer will return and spearhead the attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah who recently became ICC number 1 Test bowler.

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja Injury Concerns

India were hit with a blow following their Hyderabad Test loss. Both KL Rahul (quad) and Jadeja (hamstring) missed the Vizag Test. But as per reports, the duo are inching closer to returning to the team. It remains to be seen if both can be a part of the team in Rajkot.

While KL Rahul is set to return, Jadeja’s recovery might need a little bit of time. However, since there is a long gap of absence between the 2nd and 3rd Test, there is chance that the all-rounder can recover in time.

Virat Kohli Uncertainty Continues

There conflicting reports regarding the availability of star batter Virat Kohli. The former India skipper pulled out citing personal reasons. There are now fresh reports that claim that Kohli might miss the remainder of the series.

Now if Kohli misses the remaining 3 matches, then the board needs to find a suitable replacement in the team. Since Shreyas Iyer is currently on a poor form, the team will surely for other players to fight for their spot.
