IND vs ENG: ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma is a master of pull shots. But the Indian captain has shown a chink in his armour due to poor timing while executing the pull shots on Australian pitches at the T20 World Cup 2022. And India legend Sunil Gavaskar has come to his rescue with a valuable suggestion ahead of the second semi-final against England. Gavaskar believes that Sharma, who has breached the 50-run mark only once at the marquee event, should adopt a more controlled approach while executing the pull shot. The India cricket legend-turned-commentator believes that the change in approach will help him score runs with ease.

“How he got out while playing the pull shot. He places it very well, scores runs but also gets out. Especially when we talk about Australian grounds, the boundaries are bigger. He has a wide range of shots if he can control that particular shot. Even if he stays for 10 overs we can easily score 80-90 runs. He must play long,” the ex-cricketer said during an interaction with Sports Today.

“We all know Rohit Sharma’s class and hope he gets back to his form in the last two matches and scores runs. He only started that concept to make the most of the six powerplay overs. He is getting out while trying to do that.”

How Rohit Sharma performed at T20 World Cup 2022? The right-handed batter’s personal form has been questionable even though he has been successful in leading India to the semi-finals so far.

The opener, who makes shot-making look effortless, has scored only one half-century at the marquee event which came against the Netherlands. By his own admission, that half-century was not ‘perfect’ either.

Sharma has time and again failed to get past the 20 run-mark as he recorded 4 runs vs Pakistan, 15 vs South Africa, 2 vs Bangladesh and 15 vs Zimbabwe in their last Group stage clash.

However, India will expect their captain to return back to form with the all-important semi-finals approaching. The Men in Blue will be buoyed by the fact that they topped the Group 2 points table with eight points from five matches.

The Sharma-led side will, meanwhile, have their task cut out when they face England in the semi-finals at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
