Team India middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer suffered yet another failure after he faced a soft dismissal in the 1st innings of IND vs ENG 2nd Test. The right-handed batter was branded sloppy by former England star Kevin Pietersen, who went on to criticize Iyer’s intent in the game.
IND vs ENG: Sloppy Iyer gets thumbs down from Pietersen
Speaking on Jio Cinema at the end of the 2nd session on Day 1, Pietersen came down hard on Iyer over his technique. The former England star opined that the middle-order batter showed lack of intent during the game and wasn’t able to put pressure on the bowlers. Pietersen also asserted that Iyer may lament over his missed chances once KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Jadeja return.
Iyer managed to score just 27 runs before he was dismissed by Tom Hartley. The Indian batter did not look settled while he was at the centre and was seen constantly shuffling in the crease as he attempted to take on the spinners. A delivery from Hartley that stayed very low and managed to find itself safely in the hand of Foakes after an under edge from Iyer marked the end of his knock.
